Wuerttemberg, Republic, 2 1/2Pf Stamp overprinted „2“, 1919, Michael Nr. 133; In 1919 the 2 1/2 Pf stamp (Michel Nr. 119) was overprinted with a large „2“ in dark-ultra-marine.
Here is the imperforate trial proof of the stamp (mint, hinged).
In order to introduce the new stamp to the general public specimen copies of the stamp were released by postal authorities to the press. In order to avoid that these samples were used in order to harm the post they were overprinted with „Probe zur Frankatur nicht verwendbar“ (Specimen not valid as postage). Here the mint hinged specimen of the 2Pf on 2 1/2 stamp.
Here is the stamp cancelled to order in Stuttgart. Note that the small cancel was never used for actual postal operations. The cancel only appears in cancelled to order stamps. Michel values a CTO stamp at only 10% of the postally cancelled stamp.
This is a postally used stamp. Signed „Infla“.
