Wuerttemberg, Kingdom, Coat of Arms without Silk Thread, 1859/1860, Michel Nr. 11-15: Five stamps in nominals of 1Kr, 3Kr, 6Kr, 9Kr and 18Kr were issued imperforate.

1Kr stamp mint with full original gum (hinged) in dark-orange-brown color (Michel Nr. 11b). Signed „Gebr. Senf and Thoma“.

Reprints of these stamps were produced and sold over the postal counter in Stuttgart at the nominal value. They did not differ from the original design and were fully valid as postage. Here is a mint pair of the reprint with full original gum in dark-brown color. The right stamp is mint never hinged while the left stamp shows a hinge remnant.

Reprints were also made in slightly or very different colors so that postal authorities could decided which color section would be suitable. They are listed in Michel under 11NDb and NDbc.  All signed „Irtenkauf“.

3Kr stamps (one horizontal pair and one single stamp) in the color variety deep-dark-brown (Michel Nr. 11b) on a small piece and cancelled with the single circled circular canceler of Tuebingen (Type III/+25 points). Michel values a used pair at around three times that of a single stamp.

Mixed franking of the 2nd and 3rd issue of Wuerttemberg. 3Kr (Yellow-orange, Michel Nr. 7a) together with 6Kr (light-green, Michel Nr. 13a) paying an overall postage of 9Kr on an international letter sent from Goeppingen to Bremgarten in Switzerland. The postage was made up of 6Kr Postal Union and 3Kr Swiss onwards transportation. Royal Coach Post (K.Wuertt.Fahrpost) transit and Bremgarten arrival cancels on there reverse.

6Kr stamp (dark-olive-green, Michel Nr. 13b) on a small piece cancelled by the triple-ringed circular canceler of Isny in January of 1861.

Multiple franking of the 6Kr stamp (light-greenish-olive, Michel Nr. 13a) on a folded intra-state letter sent from Stuttgart to Sigmaringen. Cancelled with the triple-ringed circular canceler of Stuttgart. Postage for a simple letter was only 3Kr for a distance in excess of 12 miles so the letter must have been of 4 lot in weight.

9Kr stamps (Michel Nr. 14a) in a very rare block of four mint with full original gum. The top two stamps have hinge remnants while the bottom stamps are mint never hinged. MNH stamps from the Wuerttemberg Kreuzer area are extremely rare. Largest known mint unit of this stamp. Ex Ferrari. Michael values a used block of four at onehundredfifty times that of a single stamp sir a mint block four is clearly valued with „LP“.

In May of 1865 official reprints of the stamps were produced and sold in Stuttgart at nominal value over the counter. The reprints do not differ in design from the originals and they were fully valid for postage. Here is a mint never hinged specimen of the 9Kr value.

Rare mixed franking of the 2nd and 3rd Wuerttemberg issue. Mixed franking of four 1Kr stamps (orange-brown, Michel Nr. 6a, two form a vertical pair) together with two 9Kr stamps (middle-red-carmine, Michel Nr. 14a) paying an overall postage of 22Kr on a letter sent from Stuttgart to Rome in Italy. . However, initially, only 20Kr were used. This was not enough as the tariff had increased in October of 1859. As a result a black hand stamp „P.F. (missing postage) and a manuscript 2 was applied for the additional 2Kr postage due that was added later on. Various transit and Rome arrival cancel on their reverse. Michel values a lose pair off cover at three times that of a single stamp.

Single franking of the 9Kr stamp (middle-red-carmine, Michel Nr. 14a) on a folded letter sent in March of 1861 from Metzingen to Nuernberg in Bavaria. Plochingen und mobile coach driving „Wuerttembergisches Fahrendes Postamt“ cancel on the reverse. Royal Bavarian Stirrup Cancel on the reverse.

18Kr stamp in dark-blue (Michel Nr. 15) mint with full original gum (hinge remnant).

18Kr stamp (blue, Michel Nr. 15 I) mint with most original gum. The stamp shows the plate error „white line at U of Kreuzer on the right“. This error only occurs once in every sheet of 60 stamps. Michel values a used specimen of the error at 2.5 times that of a normal stamp. Mint errors are not listed as they are so rare.

Official reprints of these stamps were produced in Stuttgart and sold there over the postal counter at nominal values. They were fully valid as postage but were rarely used this way. Here is the mint hinged 18Kr reprint with mostly original gum.
