This is an unusual single franking of the 3Kr stamp (red-carmine, Michel Nr. 31a) on an international letter sent from Cannstatt to Tyrol. The correct postage for this letter should have been 9Kr. but apparently the stamp was confused with the 9Kr stamp of 1862 in perforation 10 that had a similar color (Michel Nr. 24). As a result no postage due was indicated. The stamp only received a weak strike of the single circular canceler from Cannstatt and therefore was struck again in Trient, Italy. Some of the 1Kr to 9Kr nominals of these stamps were removed in imperforate state without authorization from the printing works. They were likely taken from the printers waste as they all show an additional print of the image on the reverse of the stamps. As a result all of these stamps have some sort of defect. All of these stamps were printed using their original clichés. All of therm were postally used in Stuttgart in order to defraud the postal system. These stamps are one of the most rarities of Wuerttemberg philately. Here is the 9Kr (light-brown, Michel Nr. 33b) specimen.

Reverse shows an additional print of the same stamp.
